A Lacy Table

I’ve had a little brass & glass table since the 80’s.  It’s one of those pieces that is small enough to be used almost anywhere.  I’ve used it in the den, the bedroom, the bathroom & even outside.  When I first got it, it was brass. Since then it has been brass, black, charcoal, white & silver.  It needed a little makeover.  But this time, instead of just painting the legs, I did something a little different.

As you can see, the base was chipped:

You can see the original brass peeking out:

I gave it 2 coats of Krylon White Satin Paint & it looked good as new.

I could have put the glass table top back on, and been done with it, but I wanted a change.  I got this idea in my head, and decided to give it a try.  This is what I used:

Loctite Adhesive..-

I took a piece of lace that was left over from a blouse I’d made, cut it to fit the round glass table top, and then sprayed it on one side with LOCTITE Spray Adhesive (it’s repositionable).  Then I pressed the lace onto the glass.

After I’d gotten the lace down and gently pressed it to the glass, making sure there were no air bubbles, I got out the Krylon White Satin spray paint.

I sprayed the lace with 3 light coats of paint, and then slowly peeled off the lace.  This is what it looked like:

I set it aside to dry for about an hour.  When it had dried, I flipped it over & put it back on to the table base.  Now it looks like lace, but  because I flipped it over, I can set things on top with out having to worry about it chipping.  (I think that the next nice day we have, I might have to take it outside & give it a good coat of clear paint)  I like the way color shows through the lace.

So, here’s my little Lacy Table!

I hope you liked my table re-do.  I haven’t decided where I’ll be using it yet, but it should be able to go in any room (except the son’s room  ;-))

Happy Creating everyone!
