I don’t know if I’m frugal, cheap or just hate throwing things away that can be saved. I’m stubborn Irish, so I guess it’s more of the latter. This Summer, I’ve been doing a lot of little repairs around the house while the weather has been nice. This is one of those projects.
I love this little corner shelf that has been in my bathroom since we first moved in. That was 21 years ago & it was starting to show rust & a lot of wear.
I searched online for a new one. The only place that I could find one was on Walmart’s site. They only had one left & it was on sale. The List Price was $109.47 from Bed Bath n More and on sale for $33.74. Did I really want to order a new one & spend money when I knew I could save it? ummm, no.
The shelving unit is chrome, so I figured a little S.O.S. would help to get rid of the rust. It did get rid of most of the rust, but I knew it had to be sealed to prevent more rust from forming.
The shelves were a little rusty, too.
I chose my favorite spray paint to seal the shelves & pole, Rust-Oleum. I wanted to keep the chrome look, so I used the Silver.
I gave all the pieces 2 coats, letting them dry between coats.
I put it back together & it was ready to use!
It’s finished & I saved myself money that went into other projects.
I feel proud of myself. (insert childish giggle)
Happy Creating everyone!
