Christmas Wedding Couple Figurine

I know that Christmas is several months away, but I’ve always got Christmas on my mind.  When I was out shopping the After Christmas Sales, I found this little ‘Just Married’ figurine.  I didn’t have one for my Christmas Village, so naturally, I grabbed it up in a hurry.

When I got it home, I looked closely at it.  There were a few things about it that really bothered me.  Firstly, the hand of the Bride on the back of the Groom wasn’t painted.  (I could fix that)  Secondly, I wanted it to go with our wedding colors.  (if it was going in our home, why not personalize it?)  I learned a long time ago, that if it can be changed to go in our home, then why not?  That’s the beauty of crafting.  You can make it your own!  I did, you can too.

This is the little figurine that I found.

The colors were wrong…our wedding was in teal.

And the hand wasn’t painted!  That was driving me nuts!

So out came my paints & paint brushes.

I started to paint the hand.  Then I fixed some lines that weren’t straight.  While I was at it, why not change the colors to match our wedding?  The bride’s roses went from red to white and so did the groom’s boutonniere.

Then I started on the Flower Girl.   Her dress went from pink to teal and so did the bow in her hair.  And her basket of flowers went from pink & brown to white & teal.  And my little girls wore white shoes, I had to change that too. (yes, I can be a little obsessive)

When I was finished, the colors were right, but there was still something missing.  It was a winter scene & the snow needed some glitter.  Out came the glue & glitter.

I painted the glue onto where the snow should be & then poured on the glitter.

Finally the colors were right & it had the sparkle that it needed.

Just because an item doesn’t quite match your home, doesn’t mean that you can’t make it match.  Now the little ‘just married’ figurine represents our wedding because I made it my own.  You can too!
