The corner of our dining area can be pretty sparse if it’s left alone. The nice thing about it is that it’s an area that can be easily decorated to bring a pop of color to an otherwise dull place. Creating a small vignette is easy to do & can become a focal point for the room. Hope you like it!
Here’s the empty corner of our dining area. To say it’s a little boring is being kind. It’s also like a blank canvas… so many possibilities!
I started with the items that I found from my Dollar Tree Fall Haul. so the project is inexpensive. The first thing that I wanted to make was the focal point for the vignette. I used a glass candlestick & a square glass vase. I removed the labels & washed them well to remove any residue & fingerprints.
I pulled off some of the leaves from the Fall bushes. When I was done I gathered my Mod Podge, paint brush & got to work.
I painted a heavy coat of Mod Podge on to the square vase and then put a heavy coat of Mod Podge on to the back of the leaves.
I applied the leaves to the outside of the glass vase, then set it aside to dry.
Once the majority of the vase was dried, I added a coat of Mod Podge to the rim of the vase. I used a bright coppery orange glitter & sprinkled it generously to the rim. Since it’s been set aside to dry, the glitter will only stick to the wet Mod Podge. (Don’t worry if the glitter goes everywhere, we’ll remove that later)
I added some Mod Podge to the ridges of the candlestick & coated it with some more of the orange glitter. Then I used a dry paint brush to dust off the excess glitter from both the vase & the candlestick.
Apply some E-6000 to the rim of the candlestick and glue the vase to the candlestick.
I let the glue dry overnight so that it had a solid bond and the Mod Podge under the leaves would dry completely.
To keep the glitter from falling off onto everything, (my husband calls glitter the herpes of crafting) I took the finished candle outside & gave it a good coat of clear coat spray paint. (Let the paint dry before adding a candle.)
Add a candle and the candle is complete.
To turn this candle into a Fall Vignette you’ll need a few supplies. All of the items were found at the Dollar Tree.
The finished candle, Bobble Head Scarecrows, Fall Leaves, Floral Foam, Glitter Branches, Glitter Pumpkins.
I started with a small piece of the floral foam as the base. Then I added the glitter branches to the back of the foam & filled in with the leaves to cover the foam base.
Place the candle in front of the foliage covered foam.
Add the Bobble heads to either side of the candle & tuck a couple of the small glitter pumpkins in front of the scarecrows. That’s all there is to finishing the vignette.
The plain corner with the vignette in place. It’s such a nice pop of Fall color & was easy to do.
Happy Creating everyone!
