I thought I’d show you how I made the flowers that I used in the centerpiece that was in my Purple Tablescape for Easter. The centerpiece not only had glittered eggs in the center of the roses, but were used among the roses. It was easy to do, even though they look don’t look it, and by changing the color of the eggs, you can change the complete look of the centerpiece.
I got these small plastic Easter eggs at the Dollar Tree. You can see how small they are by the way they sit in the palm of my hand.
If you open up the egg, you’ll see 2 small holes in the bottom half of the egg.
I cut a 12″ piece of wire & threaded it though the holes in the egg.
Then I twisted the wires together to create a stem. Once the wires were twisted, I added a small drop of hot glue to the rim of the egg to seal it shut.
Then I covered the wire using floral tape. Floral tape sticks to itself when it’s been slightly stretched.
Then I got out my trusty Mod Podge & using a paint brush, I gave the egg a medium coat of it.
Once the egg was covered with the Mod Podge, I sprinkled on the glitter until the entire egg was covered. Then I hung it up to dry. Once it’s dry, you can use it like you would any floral piece.
To make the roses, I first put a round toothpick into one of the holes in the plastic egg. This gave it something for me to hold on to while I put Mod Podge & glitter on it. Once it was glittered, I just put the toothpick into a piece of Styrofoam to dry.
Once the eggs were dry, I got started on the roses. I started with a regular fabric rose, leaving the stem intact & then popped out the center of the rose.
Then I just used hot glue to add the egg to the center of the rose.
Now they were ready to be used in the centerpiece as you can see below.
That’s all there was to it. I hope you’ll give it a try using your own color scheme.
Happy Creating everyone!
