Easy Iced Tea

I’ve been making our iced tea like this for years.  It never tastes bitter, takes very little ingredients & is healthier than the powdered mix that you can buy in the stores.  With all of the varieties of tea out there, the possibilities are endless.

This is what our refrigerator looks like in the summertime.

Easy Iced Tea Recipe

You need 3 ingredients plus a 2 quart pitcher.  All you need for this recipe is water, 3 tea bags & 1/2 cup of sugar or Splenda.

The first thing that I do is boil a tea pot of water.

Then put 1/2 cup of sugar or Splenda into a 2 quart pitcher.  Pour about half of the tea pot of water over the sugar/Splenda.  The boiling water helps to dissolve the sugar/Splenda more easily.

Stir until the sugar is dissolved.  Then top the pitcher off with room temperature water.   Add your tea bags.

Then just add the lid to the pitcher.

Here’s my favorite.  Blueberry Iced Tea.

Let the pitcher sit for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Then put it into the refrigerator.  The tea will stop steeping when the water gets cold, so it doesn’t get the chance to get bitter.

Above, you can see regular Lipton Iced Tea on the left & green tea iced tea on the right.  (the blueberry is hiding behind the water jug)

You can add fruit to the iced tea when you add the tea bags.  We all know about adding lemon to iced tea, but, try orange slices in the green tea.  It’s amazing.

I like to experiment with the different flavors of tea that are available.  That’s how I found my favorite, blueberry iced tea.

My next experiment with the varieties is peppermint iced tea.  Then maybe some Cinnamon Apple?

Happy Creating everyone!
