I’ve always been fascinated by the beauty of Faberge Eggs. And they fit right in with my love of sparkly things. ahem… I had some plastic metallic eggs in my Easter craft stash & decided to try my hand at embellishing them.
This is what I came up with.
I started with some plain plastic metallic eggs that you can find anywhere (at least at Easter time).
Then I got out my roll of rhinestone ‘bling’. I cut long strips of the rhinestone mesh, to fit around the center of the egg.
With a hot glue gun, I glued the strips around the center, where the egg opens. Then I cut smaller pieces to fit from the top to the center. Repeating the same from the center to the bottom. This gave me 4 sections to decorate.
Along with larger pieces of rhinestones and some flat back pearls, I wanted to add crosses to the eggs, since I feel that it’s one of the most important symbols of Easter.
I cut 4 sections of the mesh 3 stones wide by 4 stones long. Then I cut out the excess. The following picture shows each step that I did to make the cross from those 3 x 4 pieces.
I hot glued the crosses into the sections on the top half of the egg.
To make the larger cross for the bottom, I cut pieces of the mesh 3 x 5. I just cut out the excess from the mesh and hot glued them to the bottom sections of the egg.
Here’s how they turned out.
