I wanted to do something special for Father’s Day. Our son has been blessed with a wonderful father. Other than just giving my husband a card & gifts, and make his favorite dinner (Rigatoni), I wanted to make the table feel as special as he is.
When I found this fabric, I just had to have it. It reminded me of menswear. Perfect for a tablescape for my husband.
I made the placemats with the patterned fabric on one side & solid navy blue on the other side. (I usually make reversible placemats so I can use them twice, with half the storage)
Since it’s a darker fabric, I wanted to lighten the table, so I used a plain white cotton tablecloth.
I thought about using clear plates, so the pattern would show through, but I thought it looked a little boring busy. And I folded the napkin to look like a menswear shirt. I thought it was fitting for Father’s Day. I found the napkin folding instructions here at NapkinFoldingGuide.com and it was surprisingly easy to do.
I decided on plain white dishes. I had to include a pasta plate, (since we’ll be having Rigatoni)!
Trying to create a centerpiece for a man is tough. It couldn’t be too ‘girly’, so that left out flowers. A Father’s Day Cake? No, I didn’t like that idea. I racked my brain for something that was a bit more masculine, but something that let him know just how special he is. I used the Father’s Day Photo Centerpiece that I made from my previous post. I set it on top of 2 beveled mirrors. One 8″ and one 5″.
That’s when it all came together.
Hope you enjoyed my Father’s Day Tablescape. And I hope you got some ideas from it!
Happy Creating everyone!
