With Memorial Day weekend coming up, I thought I’d do a patriotic tablescape to celebrate it.
This was an idea that I’ve had in my head for months, & I’m glad it came together the way I’d imagined it.
Because the centerpiece is so busy, I kept the place setting simple. I started with a white tablecloth covered by white lace. I didn’t use a place mat or charger, because I didn’t want it to detract from the dishes. I layered the plates in red, white & blue. The flatware was from 3 different sets because I wanted that to be red, white & blue too. Plain white napkins with red, white & blue napkin rings finished it off. Cobalt blue salt & pepper shakers & tumblers were added to bring the bottom plate’s color outward. The scatter is in red, white & blue also, but the clear ones are gem shaped to mimic the rhinestone centers of the flowers.
The centerpiece… I started with a small white serving tray & added some candle holders that I’d spray painted in red, white & blue. Then I added taper candles in the same colors that I’d mixed up. But the inspiration for the centerpiece was something that cracked me up. Walmart had these crazy flowers in red, white & blue, but they had a huge rhinestone for the centers. I had to use them because they made me smile. I filled in with some glitter bunches that were originally Christmas filler. Some American flags finished it off.
And a view from the top:
And I had to light the candles!
Wishing everyone a safe & happy Memorial Day.
Happy Creating everyone!
