Paillette Ornaments

As usual, I have my mind on Christmas.  Heck, it’s there all year long!  I love decorating for Christmas, and I love doing it myself.  I was looking around my Craft Room, when I found some Paillettes.  Paillettes are basically slightly larger flat sequins with one hole towards the outside rim of the sequin instead of the center.  I came up with this sparkly ornament that I’m sure will catch the light like crazy.  These are time consuming, but so worth it.

Materials Needed:

Styrofoam Ball

Sequin Pins

Straight Pins

Sharpie Marker

Paillette Sequins

Tacky Glue

Thin Ribbon for hanger

Corsage Pin

I started with a Styrofoam ball. I added straight pins to the north & south of the ball, just to keep me on track.  Then, using a Sharpie, I drew lines around the ball.  This too, was to keep my rows on track.

Insert a sequin pin in the hole of the Paillette.

Dip the end of the pin in some Tacky glue:

and push the pin into the ball. Create a row of paillettes around the bottom straight pin.

Continue adding rows of the Paillettes to the Styrofoam ball, using the lines as a guide.  (as I added more rows, I tried to cover the pin heads with the next row)

Once the Styrofoam ball is covered with the Paillettes, remove the bottom pin & replace the top straight pin with a corsage pin through some ribbon to create the hanger.

This took a long time to do, but it’s so pretty.  I think I’m going to be making some in larger sizes and different colors.
