It’s the last week of June & the 4th of July is right around the corner. I needed a new patriotic wreath to welcome in the holiday.
This is how it turned out & I’ll show you how I made it.
I’m still using up my craft supplies, so I used what I had on hand.
I started out with a willow wreath & wrapped some red, white & blue ribbon around it.
That was all of that ribbon that I had. (another supply used!) The wreath needed a bow, so I got out some sheer blue ribbon & made a bow. I used a chenille stem to secure the bow and then threaded the ends of the chenille stem into the top of the wreath.
Once the ends of the chenille stem was all the way through the wreath, I pulled the ends so that the bow would fit tightly next to the wreath. Then I twisted them together to form a loop for hanging.
Since I’m still using up supplies, I gathered the last of my glitter berries from Christmas. (Imagine my surprise when I saw them at the Dollar Tree the other day) I cut the clusters into small pieces.
I’d had this Dollar Tree decoration from last year. I decided to use the star sprays from it.
I cut some of the star sprays from the decoration. Then I cut them in half. The sprays were too long to use as is. Once I had them cut, I hot glued them & the berries around the bow.
Then I used hot glue to add a couple of American flags to the bottom of the wreath. The ends of the flags tucked nicely into the wreath. This is an advantage to using willow.
I took some of the stars from the Dollar Tree star sprays & glued them in front of the flag base to cover the glue.
I had some flag tooth picks left over from last year, & I thought they’d be perfect for this wreath.
Some of the picks were cut down to fit. Then I added them in and around the bow and some at the base of the wreath. I had a couple of smaller flags that I added to the sides of the wreath, just to balance it out.
And it was done and now hangs on my door to welcome in Independence Day!
I hope you’ll give it a try for your 4th of July celebrations.
Happy Creating everyone!
