I apologize for not posting last week. I really wanted to get this post up, but I managed to sprain my wrist, and typing with a sprained wrist is not easy. So, I’m ‘hunting & pecking’ this post.
With the Christmas season upon us, I’ve been working on some new items for the home, gifts & some more orders. This is the first centerpiece for the season. It’s so easy to make, using items available at any craft store or the Dollar Tree.
This is my pink, Shabby Chic Centerpiece:
This was put together the same way that I did the Dollar Tree Fall Centerpiece. There is no gluing for this centerpiece. That way you can reuse it for another project. I started with a foam wreath, covered it with moss & glued on an 8″ round cake cardboard to the bottom. Then I laid on some battery operated lights. I arranged the lights alternating one on the top & one on the side. They were anchored with floral pins.
The white poinsettias were purchased at the Dollar Tree. I got one bunch that had some glittered lace on them & 2 bunches that had glittered centers. I cut the stems short, just enough to insert them into the foam, but not long enough that they would push through to the other side.
I started with 5 of the glittered lace poinsettias & placed them in a star pattern.
Then I made some glittered ornaments using pink glitter. The tutorial for these can be found here. I used floral pins to anchor the ornaments.
I added the other white poinsettias to the sides.
Then I added small bunches of pink & white lace in between the flowers & ornaments. These were made by making 3 loops of lace & holding them together with a floral pin.
Then I draped strings of pearls in between all of the embellishments.
At this point, the centerpiece is complete. The only thing that is still needed is to add something to the center.
Here the centerpiece has the Altered Bird Cage Ornament.
And here it is lit:
Here it is with the Breast Cancer Awareness Angel:
Here it is using pink water, floating candles & my Lace Vase:
I like the way the centerpiece seems to change depending on what you put on the inside.
You can make this in any color, to go with your home’s Christmas decor. Can you imagine this using red poinsettias and white or green glitter ornaments? Or maybe white poinsettias with teal glitter ornaments? Oh the possibilities are endless!
Happy Creating everyone!
