Silver & White Tablescape

When you’re a crafter or an artist, you don’t look at things the same way that other people do.  You always look at an item & say, “What can I do with this?”  When I was shopping at Walmart, I found this silver dance-wear fabric.  It really is a bright metallic silver.  (It just looks a little ‘purple’ because of the sun shining in my craft room window.)  As soon as I saw it, I just knew I had to have it.  I bought a couple of yards of it.

The girl that rang up my purchase looked at me a little strangely.  I told her what I had in mind & she said, “I thought maybe you were going to make a silver disco outfit”.  (she knows that I make a lot of my own clothing)

What I had in mind was a table cloth.  Seriously.  A table cloth.

I laid it out on my table, and cut the fabric 9″ all the way around the outside of the table.  So it now has a 9″ drop all the way around.  There’s no reason to hem it because it doesn’t fray.  I might hem it later on, but it’s fine for now.

Yes, I agree, it’s a little much.  But this is only the beginning.  I laid a white lace table cloth over the silver table cloth, making the silver an underlay treatment.

I made some silver & white brocade placemats some time ago.  They are some of my favorites.  This was a perfect time to use them.

Now for the centerpiece.  I started with a 12″ x 12″ mirror:

Then I added an 8″ beveled mirror to that.

I had a clear glass square planter that would fit nicely on top of the 8″ mirror.

Then I added some clear iridescent flat back marble ‘scatter’ to the inside of the planter & the corners of the large mirror.

I added some water to the planter & floated 3 votive candles in it.

And here it is when the votive candles are lit:

Now my table is ready for dinner.  Super easy to do.  And it all started with strange looks when I bought some silver fabric.  Happy decorating everyone!
