The first snow storm of 2014 has hit the East Coast. Snow storm Hercules is dumping inches of snow on everyone, as well as freezing cold temperatures. (it’s 14 degrees here & still dropping) I hate the snow & cold more than you’ll ever know. But instead of fighting it, I decided to do a tablescape that would look cold & snowy. This is my Snowy Tablescape.
For this tablescape, I decided to play around with Epsom Salts. I took some Styrofoam balls & inserted them onto wooden skewers. I painted some with an icy blue & when the paint had dried, I covered the balls with Mod Podge (both the painted ones & the plain white ones). Then I dipped the balls into the Epsom Salts. They look like snow balls.
I’d broken a wine goblet, so I decided to do the same thing to the ones that were left and use them as candle holders.
I put the balls into a glass bowl with some white & clear glittered snowflakes. The bowl was set on top of an oval mirror and surrounded by the Epsom Salt goblets with white tea lights and some clear glass scatter.
I used the white crushed velour as a table cloth. (like I’ve said before, it just reminds me of snow) The place setting was kept white & simple. White flatware, white & light blue napkins & a clear napkin ring that has a design that looks like a snowflake to me.
(Remind me not to wear hot pink when I’m photographing white)
I used my favorite Wexford glassware to finish the tablescape off.
And naturally, I had to light the candles:
I hope you enjoyed this week’s tablescape. Stay warm out there.
Happy Creating everyone!
