Tombstone Ornaments

Here’s the second of my Halloween Tree Ornaments. These Halloween Tombstone Ornaments are so easy to make, and they can easily be done by a child.  The hardest part of these is waiting for the paint to dry!

Tombstone Ornaments

I found some wooden luggage tags at Michaels & thought that they were the perfect shape & size to make Tombstone Ornaments.  I started by base coating the wooden tags with white acrylic paint.  I always base coat wood with white so that the color of paint will be true & not show the wood color through the paint color I’ve chosen.

Once the paint had dried, I uses a medium shade of grey acrylic paint to paint both sides. (it did take 2 coats of the grey paint to cover it solidly) But I left some sections a little light to make them look aged, and a little bit spooky.

Once the paint had dried, I added some cute sayings to them.  (You can use any sayings that you want to, I just had to include some characters from Stephen King books).  I used a Sharpie to write the sayings, but you could use a paint pen or acrylic paint.

Just add some Christmas Ornament Hangers to the luggage tags, and they’re ready for the tree!

Easy to make, cute, and a child could help you do these.   Painted wood is a great medium to use & write on.  You can make these as elaborate or simple, scary or cute as you want.  (My tree is family oriented, so I wanted to make it child friendly.)

Have fun with this one.  You’re only held back by your imagination.

Happy Creating everyone!
