I live in the Steel City. Football season is a big deal here, in the Steeler Nation. Although I’m not a big fan of sports, the men in my life are. So, each football season, I decorate for it. I do Steeler tablescapes, Steeler accents in the kitchen, & I even go as far as decorate the bathroom. The only time that I’ve gotten a reaction from my husband about one of my decorating projects is when I did the bathroom. Usually it’s a “that looks nice”, but his reaction to the Steeler bathroom was, “Wow”. This is how I did the towels in the bathroom & kitchen.
I found this Steeler, NFL ribbon at Walmart, (Gotta love Offray) as well as plain black towels.
I measure 4″ from the bottom of the towel & pinned the ribbon in place on both sides of the ribbon.
Then I edge stitched the ribbon in place using a medium length stitch. I used a medium length stitch because I wanted the stitching to hold up to washing & drying.
After the ribbon was stitched in place, I added a satin zigzag stitch to the edges of the ribbon.
Now I have custom made Steeler Towels that didn’t cost me a small fortune. Yes, I have several of the “Terrible Towels” which are used for decorative purposes, but I now have towels that can be used on a daily basis.
It’s easy to get the look that you want, with out breaking the bank.
Happy Creating everyone!
