Here’s an easy project to help you get an early start for Easter decorating & gift giving. These are great gifts for the little ones to give at school parties.
What you’ll need:
Easter themed pencils (Dollar Tree)
2″ to 3″ white pom poms (any craft store or Walmart)
white felt (I got some white felt squares at Walmart)
pink foam sheet (again, Walmart)
wiggle eyes (craft store)
small pom poms (you’ll need pink)
Fishing Line (for the whiskers)
Hot glue & a glue gun
Start with the large white pom pom & separate the ‘fur’. Add a drop of hot glue to the area you just exposed & press the eraser side of the pencil into the hot glue. Hold in place until the glue cools.
Using the pink foam, cut out ear shapes.
Glue the ear shapes on to the white felt. Then cut around the pink ear shapes, leaving some of the white felt showing.
Hot glue the ears into the top of the pom pom. Do this the same way that you added the pencil, by separating the ‘fur’ of the pom pom, add hot glue & insert the ears.
It’s starting to look like a bunny, but it still needs a face. Hot glue some wiggle eyes on to the front of the pom pom. A trick that I learned years ago while in ceramic class, put the eyes towards the center. If you put the eyes too high on the pom pom, it gives it a huge chin, and if you put them too low, the forehead is too big. Then glue on the small pink pom pom below the wiggle eyes.
Cut some ‘whiskers’ from fishing line.
Add some hot glue just under the nose for the whiskers.
Press the whiskers into the hot glue, and cover the glue with some of the ‘fur’ of the pom pom.
You can add a piece of ribbon just under the pom pom & tie a bow if you like, but they look just as cute with out the bow.
And they’re done!
In the photo below, the one on the left was made with a 3″ pom pom & the one on the right was made with a 2″ pom pom. Both sizes are cute.
Happy Creating everyone!
