Lucky Leprechaun Bell

St. Patrick’s Day is almost here!  I’ve been playing with Terra-cotta pots & put together a Leprechaun that is also a dinner bell.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Luck of the Irish Sign

If you’re looking for an easy way to add a little Irish decor to your home for St. Patrick’s Day, this is it.  It’s simple enough for the Wee Ones to do, but looks like it was purchased instead of the usual kid’s crafts.  Adults can really get creative with this project, too.

St. Patrick’s Day Sharpie Plates

I’ve been wanting to make Sharpie plates ever since I saw them on YouTube a couple of years ago.  And when a very special girl gave me a set of new Sharpies for Christmas, I had to do this.  (Thank you, Amanda)  Making special plates for St. Patrick’s Day seemed to be the right time to try this craft.  It was a little time consuming, but very relaxing.  It reminded me of when I was little & spent hours upon hours coloring in my coloring books.  I’m so happy with the results.  Here’s how I did it.

Christmas Cross

I can’t believe that Christmas is only 10 days away.  Time is flying by, and I’m not nearly ready for it.  I’m still trying to get the decorating done, and there are still a few more gifts to get and make and wrap.  Is anyone else in the same boat that I’m in?

The Christmas season bring so much creativity to me.  I often find myself working on projects at 4:00 in the morning. This is one of those projects that I finished in a couple of hours.  It’s a quick and easy Christmas craft that can be customized depending on the fabric & paint that you choose.  It’s also a project that the little ones can do.

Christmas Picture Earrings

I was asked to make some earrings for a little girl’s Christmas pictures.  She wanted something that would show up & sparkle, but she didn’t know what color her little girl’s dress was going to be.

I thought about it for awhile, and my mind immediately went to Swarovski crystals.  Swarovski crystals sparkle like nothing else, and I know that although simple, they will show up in the pictures.  I also gave her a bonus pair of earrings.  Purple is her favorite color, and she’s the star of their family.

Bad Hair Day Pencils

I’ve been making these little Bad Hair Day Pencils for years.  They are easy enough for children to make, make cute additions to Valentine’s Day parties or an Easter Basket, and can keep the little ones busy for a long time.  They’ll also bring a smile to your face in your home office.

When I showed this to my 22 year old son, I asked him if he remembers them.  He smiled & said, “Yes, I still have one”.   Needless to say, that made my day!

Magic Face

This is something that I made for my little ones when they were young.  Seems like a million years ago.  Now, I make them for the little ones that come into the place where I work.  It keeps the little ones busy while Mom or Dad are trying to check out.   I take it to them & say, “have you ever seen a Magic Face?”

When I give it to them, I always tell them a little story.

“This is a Magic Face.  And he looks really sad, doesn’t he?”  I always get a sad nod to this.

Then I say, “Do you know how to make him happy?”  That’s when I get the sad face and they shake their head.

Then I tell them, “You have to turn their frown, upside down!”

That’s when I turn the sad face upside down:

The look on their faces is so adorable.  Their little eyes open up wide & they’re so surprised!  Then they have to show Mom or Dad.  Most of the time they say, “happy, sad, happy, sad”.  It helps them to start looking at things just a little differently & opens their minds to a little creativity.

It always amazes me how something so small, can make a little one so happy.  And I can’t tell you how many parents have thanked me.

Give it a try on your little ones, and watch the smiles begin.
