I was asked to make some earrings for a little girl’s Christmas pictures. She wanted something that would show up & sparkle, but she didn’t know what color her little girl’s dress was going to be.
I thought about it for awhile, and my mind immediately went to Swarovski crystals. Swarovski crystals sparkle like nothing else, and I know that although simple, they will show up in the pictures. I also gave her a bonus pair of earrings. Purple is her favorite color, and she’s the star of their family.
These earrings are easy to make, but they don’t look like it.
The supplies needed:
I got hypoallergenic earring studs because I didn’t know if she had any sensitivities.
jump rings
4 mm. round Swarovski crystals
6 mm. bicone Swarovski crystals
Headpins
Jewelry pliers
The back of the earring package:
Slide the 6 mm. crystal on to the headpin. Then add the 4 mm. round crystal.
Using the jewelry pliers, bend the headpin to form a right angle, then form a loop by wrapping the headpin around the pliers.
Open a jump ring, by twisting it. Don’t pull the jump ring apart. Just twist it one half down & the other half up. Once it’s opened, put the looped part of the headpin & the earring post on to the jump ring. Close the jump ring by twisting it back to its original shape. Repeat for the other earring.
You now have a finished pair of Swarovski earrings.
The bonus earrings were even easier to do. All I needed was a pair of earring posts, 2 jump rings and 2 charms.
To add the charms, just open the jump rings and add the posts & charms to the jump rings. Close the jump rings & the earrings are done.
Needless to say, she was very happy with the earrings. I can’t wait to see the pictures of her little girl wearing them.
These are easy to make & would make wonderful Christmas gifts. By changing the charms, you could make these for any occasion.
Happy Creating everyone!
