I’m still making Halloween ornaments for my Halloween Tree. This time I’m making Foam Halloween Bats. They’re so easy to make and they look adorable on the tree.
The first thing that I did was make a template. I took an index card & sketched a shape that looked like a bat. There are many inspirational pictures on the Internet if you need it.
I only drew one wing because I folded the sketch in half & cut around the wing to make two wings that matched.
Cut out the bat shape & open it back up. You now have your template.
Now you want to draw around the template on some black foam. I used a metallic Sharpie to make the outline. (I was going blind trying to see the outline when I used a black pen. ugh).
Cut out the shapes, just inside the line. Once you have the shapes cut out, you’ll want to add eyes. I used red fabric paint. Some of them I added red glitter to the fabric paint.
Because I’m using these ornaments on a black tree, I wanted the bats to stand out from the tree. I used some white acrylic paint and a thin detail brush to frame them out. (you could always use a paint pen)
Then with a needle & black thread, I added a loop to the top for hanging. Knot off the ends.
And they’re ready to be hung on the tree!
Happy Creating everyone!
