Happy Birthday, America!
If you saw my 4th of July Tablescape, you might have noticed the Scatter Candle Centerpiece. I’ve been making these for over 20 years for several reasons. They are easy to put together, very inexpensive, can be customized to go with any color scheme and always bring a little sparkle to any place you put them. And the best part is that it only takes a few minutes do.
Here’s how I make them:
The supplies are simple. You need a glass flower pot that measures 2 1/2 ” wide at the top, a clear glass container that the flower pot will fit into, and some flat backed marbles.
I know that you can find these at Joann Fabrics & Michaels.
First, partially fill the glass container with the flat backed marbles about a third of the way.
Then, add your glass flower pot.
Next, add more flat backed marble scatter around the glass flower pot. I usually slide them in one at a time.
Continue to add the scatter marbles until they’re at the top of the glass flower pot.
Add a candle & it’s done!
Light the candle, & the flame shows through the marbles & the colors seem to glow.
To customize it, add different colored scatter marbles of your choice. I used red, clear & blue for the 4th of July, but you could easily do it in colors for any holiday.
I love when they’re lit.
Put them on a base to make them into a centerpiece. Here I used 2 square mirrors & added some more scatter around them. I like using mirrors because the color & candlelight bounces off of them.
I hope you’ll give this a try. I think you’ll be pleased with the results.
Happy Creating everyone!
