I recently did a post about making Steeler Towels for the football season. Since I live in the heart of the Steeler Nation, I made towels in black & used Offray NFL Ribbon. Someone told me that they couldn’t find the ribbon that I used. So, I’m showing an alternative to using the NFL Ribbon, and still make the towels work for the Steeler theme. (or for your favorite football team)
I wanted the Steeler’s Black & Gold colors, so I started off with a white hand towel & 2 rolls of satin ribbon, one in a golden yellow & one in a black.
On one side of the towel, I pinned two rows of the yellow ribbon & one row of black ribbon in the center of the yellow ribbons.
I reversed the ribbons on the other side of the towel.
Here’s a picture of both sides of the towel with the ribbon pinned in place.
I used a medium length straight stitch to sew the ribbons in place, matching the thread to the ribbons.
And it’s done!
So even if you can’t find the NFL Ribbon for your towels, you can still have Pittsburgh Steeler themed towels to decorate your home. If you’re not a Steeler fan, you can certainly customize this project using the colors of your team.
Happy Creating everyone!
