When you’re a crafter & people know it, they sometimes give you things thinking that you can do something with it. This project started with a friend giving me a pair of gold & glass cherub lamps that someone had given her. She thought of me because I’m always creating something. I’m going to get 2 or 3 projects from this pair of lamps. Here’s my first one:
This is what the little lamps looked like when I got them:
From a distance, the didn’t look too bad. But once you looked closer, you could see that they were in really bad shape.
There was so much rust & discoloration.
When I took the lamps apart, & cleaned the parts, I was left with these little cherubs. (They’re metal & a little on the heavy side)
I got out the Krylon white satin paint, and painted them on all sides:
Once they were painted, I knew what I wanted to do. I went to the local thrift shop to find a new base & top for it. I found a couple of pieces that I thought would work. But they were a cream color which made the cherubs too white:
I tried to paint the cherub an Ivory color, but it was too dark for the bowls.
So, I dusted the cherub with a light coat of white. It toned down the Ivory enough that it matched the dishes I’d chosen. Once I’d gotten the color right, I got out the E-6000.
I put a bead of the E-6000 on the base of the cherub
I turned the small bowl over & glued the cherub to the bowl.
When the glue dried & I knew it would hold, I put a bead on the top of the cherub & glued the larger bowl to it.
I let the glue dry for about an hour before I brought it into the house. The glue is holding very well.
I added some fresh lemons to the bowl:
And then added some silk leaves to the base of the lemons.
I think she turned out well. And I’m sure she’ll soon become the inspiration for another tablescape.
Hope you enjoyed my little transformation.
Happy Creating everyone!
