St. Patrick’s Day Candle

This is a very easy tutorial for turning a glass Christmas candle into a St. Patrick’s Day decoration.  You need very little supplies to make this, it’s inexpensive & will brighten any area that you place it.

I got a few of these candles for 70% off after Christmas.  I usually buy green, red & white items to use for the holidays that come right after Christmas.  The only thing that I had to buy was a package of paper napkins from the Dollar Tree.  The rest I had on hand, but can be purchased at the Dollar Tree.

The first thing that I did was to remove the label.  I could have used something like Goo Gone, but I was out.  Once the label was removed, I cleaned the glass with some rubbing alcohol.

I opened the napkin & separated the layers.

Then I cut off the trim that was around the napkin.  I thought it would be too busy to leave it on.

The next thing that I did was to coat the glass candle with Mod Podge & then press the napkin into the Mod Podge.  Once the napkin was in place around the candle, I sealed the top of the napkin with another coat of Mod Podge.

Then I set it aside to dry.

To finish off the top of the candle base, I used some green ribbon.  I just hot glued it into place.

The lid was just as easy to decorate.

I used Mod Podge to add some of the napkin to the center of the lid.  Once the Mod Podge had dried, I added 4 gold coins with hot glue & topped it off with a glittery Leprechaun hat.  (Gotta have my glitter!)

And your candle is done!

I told you it was easy.

And when you light the candle, the flame glows through the paper.

It always amazes me how a little change can turn something plain into something unique.

This can be made to go with any holiday or decor, just by changing the napkin & embellishments.

It would be so cute using Easter napkins & adding some eggs or a bunny to the top.  Or try some patriotic napkins with some flags on the top for the 4th of July.

I hope this easy project gets your creative juices going.  The possibilities are endless.

Happy Creating everyone!
