I thought I’d show you how I organize my earrings. I’ve seen them organized online using framed screens, egg cartons, and even storing them on trays, but that drives me nuts. All it takes is bumping it once & you have a huge mess that can take hours to reorganize. And I really don’t have all that much room to store my earrings like that. If you read my post on Makeup Storage, you know that I like to have all of things close together, so that when I’m getting ready, I don’t have to run all over the place. Once my make-up is on, and my hair is done, the last things I put on are my earrings & watch, and I’m out the door. It’s like a one stop shop.

How do you take all of this and store it in a section that’s 5″ wide, 7″ deep, and 6″ high?

Once I thought it out, it was actually easy.

I got the containers at JoAnn Fabrics. They call it a Four-Part Storage Container w/Handle.

I’d been using these boxes for my Swarovski Crystal storage.

And since I was so happy with the way it separated all of the colors, kept them clean, and spill proof, I thought it would be good for my earrings. I spent an hour or so, separating all of my everyday earrings into groups by colors. All the blue together, all the black, all the browns, etc…

Each little box has a lid that closes securely, so if they get knocked on the floor, I don’t have a mess to clean up. (and if it should drop when the lid is opened, it’s a tiny mess) And getting ready is so much easier because I don’t have to root around to find the color I’m looking for. Here’s a close up of one of the boxes.

And here is how I’ve organized my Black, Brown, Blue & Hoops.

And all of the White, Yellow, Reds & Pinks, and Turquoise & Greens.

They’re separated by color & when the lids are closed, they’re securely in place.

Now for the fun part. Putting all of those earrings in a space that is only 5″ wide x 7″ deep x 6″ high (7″ high if you keep the handles up) You ‘up end’ the boxes & 4 of them fit together in one container.
