I hate to cook.
That’s all there is to it, I really hate to cook. But, I am a housewife & mother, and in my opinion, I cook because it’s a necessary evil. So all of my recipes are quick, easy to make, and need to be pleasing to my family. This chili recipe is one of our favorites. If you hate to cook as much as I do, or you’re looking for a ‘stick to your ribs’ kind of meal, this recipe is for you.
It’s no secret that I love to create things. To do that, I have to use tools. I’ve been borrowing my husband’s or son’s tools to do the projects that I’m working on. After I saw these, I knew I had to have them. Especially since they’re my favorite color, purple! Oh, I can see my sister & nephew rolling their eyes & shaking their heads. Hubby & son just smile.
Usually, once I get something organized, it stays that way. But the area under my kitchen sink was driving me nuts. The biggest culprit was all of the boxes of food wrap. I’d pull one out, and the rest of them would go where ever they wanted to go. I needed something to corral them. I’ve been searching on Pinterest, YouTube & the Internet. I couldn’t find anything that I liked. I thought about doing the stack of fence posting that Alejandra Costello used, but I didn’t think it would work for the area that I had. Here’s what I came up with:
This is one of my favorite meals. It’s a new twist on an old favorite. It’s one of my comfort foods and takes less than half an hour to make. The barley gives the sauerkraut a sort of gravy & isn’t as strong as regular sauerkraut. Served with or over mashed potatoes, it’s amazing.
I don’t make it very often, because hubby doesn’t like the smell of sauerkraut cooking, so I usually make it when he’s not home. Here’s my recipe for Sauerkraut & Barley with hot dogs, or you could substitute the hot dogs with pork.

I first got this recipe from a friend when we were in grade school. It’s one of my favorites, even after all these years. I’ve changed it up a bit through the years, but it’s basically the same. I can’t have a holiday go by without a wreath on my door to celebrate it. Easter is no exception. All of the florals in this wreath were purchased at the Dollar Tree, so it wasn’t expensive to make. I hope you enjoy it.
I thought I’d show you how I made the flowers that I used in the centerpiece that was in my Purple Tablescape for Easter. The centerpiece not only had glittered eggs in the center of the roses, but were used among the roses. It was easy to do, even though they look don’t look it, and by changing the color of the eggs, you can change the complete look of the centerpiece.
When I found some over-sized, chalk painted Easter eggs at Walmart, I just had to grab them up. As soon as I saw them, I got this idea in my head. By now, you know that when I get one of those ideas, I have to go with it. This is what I came up with.
They were easy to do & I can’t wait to use them in a tablescape.
Today is purple day for Epilepsy Awareness Day. In honor of Epilepsy Awareness Day, I’m doing a tablescape in purple as well as the Easter holiday. I’m also doing this tablescape for my friend’s daughter, Ryleigh.
