Simonize My Cleaning Secret Review

My oven was a mess, but I can’t stand the fumes from traditional oven cleaners.  When I saw the commercial for Simonize My Cleaning Secret, I had to give it a try.  When Walmart got it in at their “as seen on TV” section, I grabbed up a package.

The commercial said that it cleans ovens with out fumes.  This is my review.

Harbor Freight Haul

I’ve been wanting to go to Harbor Freight for awhile, but I never seem to find the time.  The more I looked at their ads or looked at their website, the more I wanted to check this place out.  My son goes there for tools all the time, but this was my first visit.

The weather was beautiful.  The sun was shining, it was warm with a nice breeze, and I had the company of my son’s special someone, Amanda.  Spending time shopping with her made the trip even better.

There were 3 things that I wanted, and they were in stock!

Birthday Cake Favors/Placeholders

I’m still working on some special decorations for all of the birthdays we have in September.  I thought that some small versions of a birthday cake would be a unique way to give a favor as well as use as a placeholder at the dinner table.

This is how I made them.

Birthday Cake Gift Box

With so many birthdays coming up in our family, I wanted to make a special gift box for the occasion that could also be used as a centerpiece.

This is what I came up with.

DIY Earring Jackets

I love wearing simple earring posts.  They’re unobtrusive & can be worn for any occasion.  I have my favorites that I wear very often, but sometimes I think that they need a little ‘oomph’.  Sometimes they could use an earring jacket, also called earring enhancers.

This is an easy way to make earring jackets that will work with any earring post.

DIY Wax Stick

I love to work with all sizes of gemstones.  I like to decorate items with them as well as use them to make jewelry.  Trying to place them on an object can be tricky unless you have  a little help.  I’ve tried using tweezers, but the gems like to jump out of them.  Then I found the QuickStik Pick up tool, which was purchased at Joann Fabrics in their scrapbook department.  They aren’t cheap.  I paid $7.00 for mine, although I use it a lot.  If you don’t want to spend that much money for something that you may not use very often, I have a do-it-yourself solution.  It works as well as the QuickStik & you probably have everything you need to make it.

What is it?  It’s a wax stick.  Simple to make anytime you need it & probably won’t cost you a cent to make.

This is what you’ll need:

A candle & a toothpick.

New Crystal for my Window

I have a dear friend who gave me a very special gift.  He gave me a paper towel wrapped around something heavy.  It was one of the most beautiful crystals that I’ve ever seen.  He knows how much I love crystals & that I have a window full of them.  When the sunlight shines through my crystals, it fills my craft room with the most beautiful rainbows that you could imagine.  The sight of those rainbows inspire me, every day.

DIY Bling Tissue Box

It never fails, when I need a tissue, they’re in the other room.  And they’re always hidden under a tissue box cover because I can’t stand the patterns that are on those boxes.  The craft room is no exception.  Since I’ve been working on redoing the craft room, (that’s a whole story in itself that I’ll tell when it’s completed) I decided to make something pretty to hold the tissues.  This could be used in any room & done in any color of your choice.

Scatter Candle Centerpiece

Happy Birthday, America!

If you saw my 4th of July Tablescape, you might have noticed the Scatter Candle Centerpiece.  I’ve been making these for over 20 years for several reasons.  They are easy to put together, very inexpensive, can be customized to go with any color scheme and always bring a little sparkle to any place you put them.  And the best part is that it only takes a few minutes do.

Here’s how I make them:

4th of July Tablescape

The 4th of July is right around the corner.  It’s one of my favorite holidays to decorate for.  I still get chills when I look at our flag with it’s stars & stripes waving in the breeze.  And there is something so special about the red, white & blue that gives the feeling of celebration.

Here is this year’s 4th of July Tablescape.
