Wedding China Challenge

Cuisine Kathleen has issued another challenge!  I love when she does this not only because it’s fun, but because it actually helps to give me a little more focus.  The challenge is “Get Out The Good Stuff!  Wedding/Fine China Challenge”

Here’s my contribution to the challenge:

May Day Tablescape

I remember when I was young & in grade school, we used to make May Day paper cones filled with flowers to give as a gift.  We worked so hard on them to make them pretty.

What you were supposed to do is secretly place them on a neighbor’s door, ring the bell or knock on the door, and run away.  It was a little something to brighten someone’s day.  Most of the time, my little May Day gift was given to my Mom.

Thinking back to the smile that those May Day gifts brought to my Mom’s face is what this week’s tablescape is all about.

Shades of Green Tablescape

It’s a dreary, rainy day here in Western Pennsylvania.  Everything is still looking brown outside.  I’m longing for Spring to get here, soon.  I’m hoping to see some green outside, but right now, there is very little.  To compensate, I’ve decided to bring some green indoors with this week’s tablescape.

A Tablescape for Ryleigh

My dear friend, Mandi, has a beautiful daughter named Ryleigh.  Ryleigh has epilepsy.  Thank God, she’s been seizure free for three years.  Yesterday was Epilepsy Awareness day, and the color associated with that day is purple.  So in honor of Ryleigh, and all of the other people who have this affliction, I decided to do this week’s tablescape in purple.

I hope Ryleigh likes it.

Sunshine and Roses

Today is the first day of Spring… and I’m still waiting for it.  It’s only supposed to reach 45 degrees today and it’s overcast.  I’m longing for some sunshine, warm breezes & the ability to open the windows.  (It’s been a long Winter)

Since there is no sunshine outside, I thought I’d bring some sunshine inside with lots of yellow.   Welcome to my Sunshine and Roses Tablescape.

St. Paddy’s Day Tablescape

St. Patrick’s Day is drawing near.  The wearing of the green is everywhere, including our table.  I’ve been wanting to do a tablescape using some very special pieces for a while now.  Unfortunately, one of the dessert plates have been lost along they way.  I wasn’t about to let that stop me, so I’ve done a tablescape for three.

I hope you enjoy it.

St. Pat’s Tablescape

Mardi Gras has come and gone, and it’s time to set my sites on one of my favorite holidays, St. Patrick’s Day!  St. Patrick’s Day seems to trigger a lot of things for me.  It tells me that Spring is just around the corner, and soon we’ll be seeing green outside instead of so much white.

Luckily, this year, St. Pat’s Day is on a Monday & I’ll be able to serve the traditional Corned Beef & Cabbage.  So I’ve been playing around with different tablescape ideas for that special meal.  Here’s the first idea:

Mardi Gras Tablescape

Mardi Gras is only 6 days away.  It comes every year on Fat Tuesday, the day before Lent begins.  There are always 3 colors associated with the Mardi Gras celebration.  Gold for Power, Green for Faith, and Purple for Justice.  Putting these colors together made for a bright & happy tablescape.
