For the last 3 months, I’ve pretty much done very little around my home. I didn’t realize that what was going on in the world was having that much of an impact on my life. I was depressed & never realized it.
A couple of days ago, something stirred in me & I realized just how bad I’d let things go. I have to get back on track & I’m starting with a single drawer in my kitchen.
I have a habit of jotting down ideas while I’m sitting at my desk. The only problem with that is that I jot the ideas down on just about anything that’s handy. When my desk was filled with post-it-notes, index cards, scrap paper, I had a panic attack. It was overwhelming. I needed to find a way to have all of those ideas organized & easily accessible. This is what I came up with;
I started with a 2″ binder that I’d gotten at Walmart, some pocket dividers, tabs, card stock, page protectors & some notebook paper. I copied all of those little scraps of papers (filled with my ideas) onto notebook paper.
I can’t tell you how much I love how much this project has helped me. I can now find ideas easily & they’re organized by Season & Holidays!
This is another in my Filing With Binders series. As a crafter, I use a lot of colored paper as well as Card Stock. I used to keep in in stacks, but sunlight can discolor it & it gets dusty. Organizing the paper stacks into binders took care of that problem. All of my colored paper is now neatly put away in a filing drawer & I can get to it easily.
If you’re not familiar with this series, you can find it here, here, here, here & here.
What do you do with all of the product warranties that you have for every single thing in your home? They take up so much room in your home & trying to find the one you need can be frustrating, to say the least. Most of mine were originally in hanging file folders, but once I started to use binders to organize my papers, this was the next logical step.
This is another project in my Filing With Binders series. I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am since I started to organize using binders. It was so nice to put a mess into a binder. It’s easy to find and easy to access.
When I opened the freezer & things started to fall out, I knew I had to think of a way to get it organized. When it happened the second time, landing on my foot, it was the wake up call that I needed to get it done. (frozen things hurt!)
I started to do some research online, but most of them included items that were very expensive and specific to certain things. I wanted to customize it myself & I wanted FREE.
While I’ve been on my organizing mission, after reorganizing my ribbon, I started on my ribbon roses. I searched the Internet for ideas to organize them, while still making them easy to get to. I searched Pinterest, YouTube, Google images & Google. All I could find were posts for making ribbon roses.
I’m sure other crafters out there have the same issues that I’ve had. I actually came up with the idea because of a dream. I was lost in a sea of ribbon roses & then the answer hit me. It was so simple!
The past week, I was pretty much useless. My back was out so badly that just standing to do dishes was painful. Anything but light housework was out of the question. The only time I didn’t hurt was when I was laying down or sitting. Thank God for my chiropractor. I’m pretty much back to my usual self.
Needless to say, I was getting antsy. I needed to do something. Reorganizing sounded like a plan. And this project could be done while sitting. I had my ribbon very organized, but after a year, and lots of crafting, the drawer was becoming a disaster. You can see how I had the craft room organized here.
So, with the help of some poster board and some sequin pins, it’s now looking so organized. And it was easy to do. I actually did it while I was watching TV.
A while back, a friend of mine gave me a bag of empty Crystal Light containers. I had a rough idea of what I wanted to do with them, but when the inspiration hit me, I surprised even myself.
I’ve been going through a lot of things lately. I’m trying to pare down what I have, and reorganizing what I keep. This time, it’s my make-up that I’m reorganizing & purging. Where do you keep your face? Some keep theirs in a make-up bag, some on a tray, and the Beatles said that Eleanor Rigby kept her face in a jar by the door. I keep mine in drawers.
I’ve found that by keeping my make-up separated in different drawers, I seem to get ready a little more easily. But it’s been awhile since I’ve gone through any of it, or bothered to clean out the drawers. Frankly, they were a mess.
