Lit Christmas Tree Painting

This is, by far, one of the most ambitious projects I’ve done to date, but I’m so proud of how it turned out.  (excuse me while I pat myself on my back)

This is a long post because I’m going to take you step by step to show you how I did it.

This is my Lit Christmas Tree Painting.

Christmas Cross

I can’t believe that Christmas is only 10 days away.  Time is flying by, and I’m not nearly ready for it.  I’m still trying to get the decorating done, and there are still a few more gifts to get and make and wrap.  Is anyone else in the same boat that I’m in?

The Christmas season bring so much creativity to me.  I often find myself working on projects at 4:00 in the morning. This is one of those projects that I finished in a couple of hours.  It’s a quick and easy Christmas craft that can be customized depending on the fabric & paint that you choose.  It’s also a project that the little ones can do.

Christmas Tissue Box – Part 2 of 3

This is the second part of my Christmas Tissue Box post.  Painting the Evergreens.

This is to show you how I paint little Evergreen trees.  (Remember, I’m no artist)  There are several ways that I do them & I’ll show you how.  These are easier to paint than you might think.  This is along the lines of folk art & they are never perfect. (Nothing in nature is perfect)  These are meant to be fun, & if you mess it up, it’s just paint, paint over it and start over again.

Christmas Tissue Box – Part 1 of 3

I have been asked so many times, how do I paint a sky with clouds?

I’m not an artist by any means, (My Mama was the artist in the family), although sometimes my work can look a little like a Picasso.  What I do is more on the lines of folk art.  I have fun with it & so can you.

The first part is how I paint a sky & clouds.  The second part will be several ways to paint evergreen trees.  The third part will be adding snowmen to your winter scene.

It’s easy to do, and if it doesn’t look the way you want it to, hey, it’s only paint.  You can always paint over it.  This is how I painted a plain wooden tissue box for Christmas.

Jeweled Christmas Ornaments

I found a sweet little 2′ white pre-lit Christmas tree at Walmart for only $10.00.  I fell in love with it, but I really didn’t have many small ornaments to fit it.  By now, you know me… if I don’t have it, or can’t find it, I’ll make it.  This is how I made some little jeweled ornaments for the little tree.

Pink Shabby Chic Centerpiece

I apologize for not posting last week.  I really wanted to get this post up, but I managed to sprain my wrist, and typing with a sprained wrist is not easy.  So, I’m ‘hunting & pecking’ this post.

With the Christmas season upon us, I’ve been working on some new items for the home, gifts & some more orders.  This is the first centerpiece for the season.  It’s so easy to make, using items available at any craft store or the Dollar Tree.

This is my pink, Shabby Chic Centerpiece:

Altering an Ornament

Walmart has gotten in some of the prettiest ornaments this year.  I feel like a kid in a candy store when I go to the Christmas section.  When I found this little dove in a bird cage, I saw so many possibilities, besides hanging it on the tree.

This is how I changed an ornament into what will be the focal point for a vignette or a centerpiece.

Organizing Christmas Ornaments

I’ve finally finished up my Christmas ornament re-organizing.  It’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while now.  The ornaments are kept in our barn (which is actually a glorified, large, 2 story shed).  Although the things that are stored in there stay dry, they are subject to heat & cold.  The usual labels on the boxes don’t hold up well.  They’ve buckled & faded over the years.  This year, it will be different.
