Mardi Gras Tablescape

Mardi Gras is only 6 days away.  It comes every year on Fat Tuesday, the day before Lent begins.  There are always 3 colors associated with the Mardi Gras celebration.  Gold for Power, Green for Faith, and Purple for Justice.  Putting these colors together made for a bright & happy tablescape.

Mardi Gras Masks Centerpiece

When I was at the Dollar Tree, I spotted a section that had a few Mardi Gras decorations.  I spotted a package of masks, beads & coins.  They were colorful & shiny, but very plain.  I needed to make them my own.  Hmmm, a little glitter couldn’t hurt, could it?  😉

Feather Sprays-Tutorial

I’m always looking for new ways to add color to my centerpieces.  One of the ways to add color, inexpensively, is to add feathers.  They not only add color, but they add movement to a piece.  They also make a nice addition to flowers as a filler.  By putting feathers together into a spray, you can add height to them.  Feather sprays are easy to make, and can be used in most centerpieces.  I’ll show you how:

Chip Clips

Chip Clips or how to white wash clothes pins… & fold a snack bag to keep the freshness in longer.

I’ve been doing this for years.  The white washing part isn’t necessary, but it makes them look better. and can be painted with any color (so you can color code them if you like).  The way I fold the bags can be used for junk food (Wavy Lays are my downfall) as well as any bag.  I’ve used them on bags of salad mix, bags of petite carrots, and my favorite.. spinach.  It works on bags of noodles as well as sugar.  Use your imagination!

Looks like a regular fold, huh?

I’ve Got The Blues

I’ve got the blues.  The constant snow has gotten me down & I’m suffering from a major case of cabin fever.  Spring can not come soon enough this year.  Going along with the ‘blues’ theme, and since the color cobalt blue makes me happy, I decided to do a tablescape in cobalt blue.  I hope it cheers you up as much as it does me.

Embellishing Filigree

I’ve been on a new kick lately (so what else is new?)  It all started with watching entirely too much YouTube.  On my latest shopping haul, I showed you some packages of Butterfly filigree that I got at Walmart.  You can find that here.  Well, this is what I did with them:

New uni-ball Pens!

I needed some new pens for the office area of our home.  I’ve been buying uni-ball pens for years.  I’ve tried others, but I always go back to uni-ball.  I needed some new blue ones, and when I was in the stationary department at Walmart, I happened upon these!  I hit the jackpot with this set!  I love my new pens.

(This is not a paid review, I just wanted to share my opinion of a product that I love)

Bad Hair Day Pencils

I’ve been making these little Bad Hair Day Pencils for years.  They are easy enough for children to make, make cute additions to Valentine’s Day parties or an Easter Basket, and can keep the little ones busy for a long time.  They’ll also bring a smile to your face in your home office.

When I showed this to my 22 year old son, I asked him if he remembers them.  He smiled & said, “Yes, I still have one”.   Needless to say, that made my day!
