White & Crystal Tablescape

Cuisine Kathleen of “Let’s Dish” has give a challenge, so I’m giving it a go. The theme is: Let There Be White Party 3.  The rules?  The table has to use WHITE DISHES and only one other color as an accent.  Flatware can be silver or white, or your accent color.  Clear glasses or your accent color. I thought I’d go with white & crystal with mirrors as the accents.

This one was going to be fun for me, since I love white, mirrors & crystal.

Shabby Chic Gift Box

When I give a gift to someone, I like to have the wrapping do double duty.  If it’s a larger gift, I always try to use a fabric shopping bag instead of a paper one that people will eventually throw out.  (Walmart has some really pretty ones for only 88 cents in their accessories section)  When I give a smaller gift, I try to make sure that the packaging is as useful as the gift.  That’s why I decorate so many small wooden boxes.  Call it an Altered Box or a Shabby Chic Box, it’s just something that I like to decorate.

Here’s my latest Shabby Chic Gift Box that will be perfect for a piece of jewelry.

Dry Brushing Frames – tutorial

Dry Brushing Frames… it’s easy to do!

Dry Brushing Frames Finished

I’ve had these little frames for more years that I care to admit to.  I do remember getting them on a clearance for a quarter each.  But when I got them home, I couldn’t find a picture small enough to put into them.  So they went in a bag until I figured out what to do with them. It’s hard to believe that the frames in the bottom picture are the same frames as in the above picture.

NASCAR Tablescape

The men in my life love their sports.  NASCAR is no exception.  We’re still Dale Earnhardt fans, and miss the excitement off his way of racing.  While Mr. Earnhardt was alive, we collected memorabilia of his.  So, why not decorate with it?  I decided to surprise my men with a tablescape that is completely NASCAR.  And naturally, in our home, it’s a Dale Earnhardt theme.

My Trip to Pat Catan’s

Yesterday, I spent the day shopping.  Usually, I detest shopping & try to do this as little as possible.  I’m the type of person who makes a detailed itinerary of the places I have to go, in the shortest amount of time for it to take.  I make lists & gather my coupons for each store, and then I can’t wait to get in and get out.  But yesterday was different.  I’ve been wanting to go to the new Pat Catan’s Craft Store.  It’s located in the Mt. Nebo Pointe Plaza which is about a 45 minute drive from my house, if traffic is cooperating.  But I’ve been wanting to go to this store for months.  I couldn’t wait for it to open!  When I got there, I was totally overwhelmed.  It’s amazing, and to be honest, there were times when it took my breath away.   Western Pennsylvania, you’re in for a treat!

It was a long drive on a scorcher of a day.  We are experiencing an awful heat wave here in “The Burgh”.   But the trip was well worth it.  I started to feel a little excitement when I saw the sign, telling me that I was going the right way!

My Trip to Pat Catans

The anticipation grew when I parked the car & saw the sign on the building.  It’s a Big Store!

Shell Angels

I’m still longing for the beach.  So, making shell crafts seems natural to me. and I love Christmas.  I’m making Shell Angles today!  I constantly think about all of the joy & sparkle that the Christmas season brings.  (I wish that feeling could last all year long)  So, combining the two makes sense to me.  Makes sense to you, too, doesn’t it?  (I know it’s only July, but haven’t you ever heard of Christmas in July?)  🙂

Angels are always part of my Christmas decorating.  It was an angel that brought the good tidings to Mary.

Shell Angels

This is a long post, because it’s loaded with step by step pictures.  I will apologize now for some of the blurred pictures.  I’m still trying to master the macro setting on my camera.  I’m also showing how I make all of the parts before I put them together.  It’s so much easier when you’re making multiples to do it like an assembly line.

Shabby Chic Fruit Bowl

When you’re a crafter & people know it, they sometimes give you things thinking that you can do something with it.  This project started with a friend giving me a pair of gold & glass cherub lamps that someone had given her.  She thought of me because I’m always creating something.  I’m going to get 2 or 3 projects from this pair of lamps.  Here’s my first one:

Desk Drawer Overhaul/Reorganization

Lately, I’ve been reorganizing things in our home.  I’ve been trying to do one section of a room a day/week.  It’s amazing how things can get out of hand if you don’t stay on top of them.  My office desk drawers did just that.  I’m in those drawers constantly.  It not only houses my pens, post-it notes, computer vacuum attachments & stationary, but my camera battery charger & the equipment I need for uploading my pictures.

Desk Drawer Overhaul

I realized that I was stuffing the cords to my camera supplies into the drawer before I closed it.  That’s a good way to ruin them.

Daisy Birdhouse Wind Chime

I’m still playing around with birdhouses.  I wanted to make a special birdhouse for my sister.  She has a wonderful garden that makes me feel peaceful when I go there.

I know that she’s partial to green & daises.  So it was only natural for me to make a green birdhouse & paint some daises on it for her.
