Shabby Chic Ornament Frames

I wanted to make a special gift for a friend’s grand-daughter’s first birthday.  And since I always have Christmas on my mind, I thought that a Christmas ornament that was personalized would be a nice gift.  I wanted it to be a ‘girly-girl’ gift, so I went with Shabby Chic.  And while I was at it, I may as well make more than one.  It’s always nice to have extra gifts on hand.  Well, this is what I made:

Playing in the Sand – tutorial

I started to do this with sand box sand years ago.  (it’s a clean sand)  Once you make this, it can be applied to several items for your home decor.  Summer brings thoughts to days at the beach.  And this is a process that will bring the beach into your home  easily.  When it’s dried, it looks like wet sand.

So, save those shells from your vacations, or have your friends bring some back for you!

Sand & Shells Centerpiece

I’ve made everything from centerpieces to picture frames & candle holders using this formula.  I hope you’ll give it a try.

Terra Cotta Wind Chime

A Terra-cotta Chime, just in time for Armed Forces Day & Memorial Day.

Terra Cotta Wind Chime

It’s hard to explain what triggers a creative idea for me.  Something just clicks, and I’m off!  This little outdoor chime was inspired by a walk through Michaels.  I saw these plastic mirror stars and my mind started racing.

Wooden Desk Organizer

I found this little wooden desk organizer at the local thrift shop about 6 months ago.  I put it on our bookcase, on our desk, in the craft room, & back on the bookcase.  It just didn’t fit our decor.  But what to do with it?  I liked it, but brown wood just doesn’t fit in our home.  It was sitting on my desk, and I was just staring at it.  I knew it would come to me, eventually.  Then it hit me.  It needed painted…. and mirrors.  This is the before & the after.

Scatter Candle – tutorial

I recently went to the Dollar Tree to get a replacement for a candle holder goblet that had been broken.  When I was looking around, I’d noticed that they had just gotten in an entirely new line of glass candle holders.  When I saw these square candle holders with straight sides, I just had to have them.  I’d seen something similar years ago, and I’ve been wanting to try my hand at it ever since.  And now that my flat backed glass table scatter collection has grown, (there are so many beautiful colors now) I was ready!

Pearl Napkin Rings tutorial

As promised, here’s the tutorial for the Pearl Napkin Rings that were used in the Yellow Tablescape.  They’re easy to make, use very little supplies, and can be customized to match the color theme of your tablescape.

No Sew Place Mat

I’ve recently gotten a request from someone who doesn’t have a sewing machine, but wants to create her own unique tablescapes. So I thought I’d share a quick way to make placemats without having to sew a stitch.

My Little Night Light

I’ve had this little night light/lamp for more years than I care to admit to.  I love this little lamp.  It’s perfect for the corner of the dining area & sheds enough light at night to guide our steps for that late night glass of water or fridge raid.  But it’s seen better days.  The base & shade have aged to the point where it doesn’t look so good anymore.  I really love this little light, and I guess I could have replaced it, but I know I’ll never find another one, so I had to save it.  It needed an overhaul.
